Nitrate Levels Change. Performance Can’t.

Meet discharge limits and minimise brine waste at industrial scale.

High nitrate levels in your wastewater?

Whether caused by nutrient-rich industrial processes, mining activity or aquaculture discharge, nitrate in wastewater can quickly become a limiting factor – overwhelming denitrification capacity, threatening compliance, driving up nitrate water treatment costs, or preventing efficient water recycling.

With the right nitrate removal system, you can:

  • Consistently reduce nitrate levels, even when concentrations spike
  • Meet strict discharge limits and eliminate sludge waste
  • Lower resource consumption and footprint
  • Maximise water recovery without fouling and scaling issues
  • Strengthen your process with ion exchange for nitrate removal when wastewater variability pushes biological solutions past their limits

The right solution doesn’t just meet standards. It improves operational efficiency, reduces brine waste, and makes nitrate compliance simpler to sustain.

Don’t settle for compliance. Demand performance – no matter the load.

CONVERTS NITRATE TO NITROGEN GAS WITH MINIMAL BRINE WASTE

Nitrate Removal from Water

Nitrate Removal Process

BIONEX™ combines two proven technologies – Moving Bed Ion Exchange (MBIX) and BIOCLENS® encapsulated bacteria – to achieve consistently low nitrate levels while drastically reducing waste and chemical use.

Here’s how it works:

  • MBIX is used as the primary treatment to efficiently reduce nitrate to low levels, even at large flow rates (>1 MLD).

  • Instead of discarding the spent brine, BIOCLENS® lenses treat the concentrated nitrate stream, converting nitrate into harmless nitrogen gas.

  • The regenerated brine is then reused, cutting both chemical consumption and brine waste.

This closed-loop design makes BIONEX™ ideal for utilities preparing for <5 ppm nitrate discharge limits with limited brine disposal options; or industrial operators in mining, explosives, or food manufacturing, facing high nitrate loads.

Proven Results

We’ve implemented our nitrate removal solutions at industrial, blasting and aquaculture sites across multiple regions, delivering consistent performance in demanding conditions, meeting tight discharge limits and minimising waste handling and disposal costs.
